Sheridan Metal Products Ltd provides reliable metal shearing services in Mississauga. It is a metal fabricating process used to cut straight lines on flat metal stock. Shears have a top and bottom blade - the procedure is quite similar to cutting a piece of paper with scissors. Metal shearing can be performed on sheet, strip, and plate. Nevertheless, many geometrical shapes can be made by shearing sheet or plate. We use ONE shear equipment in our shop. Materials that are commonly sheared include aluminum, brass, bronze, mild steel, and stainless steel.
Learn More about the Shearing Process
The shearing process involves an upper blade and lower blade that cut sheet and plate with high precision. The upper shear blade fractures the metal workpiece held in place by workholding devices. The shearing process characteristics include:
Metal placement between upper and lower shear blades
Ability to make straight-line cuts on flat sheet stock
Ability to cut relatively small lengths of metal at any time as the shearing blades can be mounted at an angle to decrease the necessary shearing force
You can depend on us for:
Shearing steel - 22 GA. to 1/4” thick and up to 120” long
Shearing stainless steel - 22 GA. to 11 GA. 1/8” thick and up to 120” long
Shearing aluminum - 18 GA. 0.040” to 3/8” thick and up to 120” long
The shearing process uses three types of tool systems:
Bar stock using a bar shear
Angle materials using an angle shear
Sheet metal and plate using a squaring or bow tie shear
